TSV Info

During the winter months, you must have a 4-wheel drive or an all wheel drive vehicle to drive up Firehouse Road to the Kandahar buildings.  Firehouse Road is plowed regularly, but the combination of grade and one very sharp switch-back makes it a challenge for even experieinced snow drivers.  Guests to Taos Ski Valley may park,  free of charge, for up to seven days in the main parking lots, and the Kandahar shuttle is available for guest use at  check-in, at check-out and for medical emergencies.  The Village of Taos Ski Valley is a short walk accross the adjacent beginner slope, Strawberry Hill.  We recommend that you bring hard soled boots for walking accross the slope, back and forth to the village, if you will not be skiing.  During ski season Taos Ski Valley Inc. circulates complimentary parking lot shuttles throughout the day to transport guests from their cars into the heart of the village, which is off limits to outside vehicle traffic during the day.

The Village of Taos Ski Valley is compact and complete with a post office, medical clinic, ticket sales booth, visitors center, rental shops and restaurants serving three meals a day and often providing live entertainment in the evenings.  Taos Ski Valley does not have a gas station or a full service grocery store so we strongly recommend that you fill up your gas tank and purchase groceries before leaving the Town of Taos (@18 miles away) to drive up.  Arroyo Seco (@12 miles away) does have two small markets, Abe's Cantina Cochina and Sol Food Natural Market.  Grocery shopping services are also provided by Melissa, at Stock It To Me (575-613-3045 or www.stockittome.org ).
